Our heartiest congratulations to Eric Koh Kim Lai who was recently upgraded as an FIH Grade I umpire. His upgrading was made possible due to his latest performance in the recently concluded 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and his impressive arrays of performances namely the European Nations ‘C’ Championship in Lausanne, the World League in Johor Bharu and the Junior World Cup in Delhi.
Eric who was delighted with the news credited the Malaysian umpiring team for the support he received from day one. His next target is to get selected for the Champions Trophy and perhaps someday in the Olympics and the World Cup.
How do you feel about this news?
Eric: “Of course I am happy and delighted to be upgraded to FIH Grade One. Credit must be given to the team that has supported me since day one.”
What is your future planning for your umpiring career?
Eric: “Getting FIH Grade One is just the beginning and I believe the hard work starts now. My next goal would be featuring in the Champions Trophy and maybe someday in the Olympics or World Cup.”
